Running the Desk in the Shop
Days / Times: Tuesday – Saturday, 11-4
Outline of Volunteer Tasks
• Greet people as they come in, let them know about the shop and current gallery

• Sell shop and gallery items
• Run the Point-of-Sale system
• Keep track of how many visitors we have that day
• Open / Close tills
Take Down / Hang Art Shows

Every week is a new journey at the art center. We may need help reorganizing the shop,
cleaning out and organizing upstairs, or other opportunities in the future. I am happy to
communicate volunteer options as they come. 

Administrative Assistant Internship (prefer at least 20 hours per week). Working under supervision of CEO and other Administration staff. Great for a young professional just starting out or someone wanting to learn more about what it's like to work in a business office and build references!

Assist with events (set up, breakdown, manning tables, etc.)
Assist with scheduling & planning of program events including Project Backpack, donation drives, service projects
Will work with my Community Engagement staff on summer programming such as literacy scavenger hunts, brown bag lunch projects, and more

Potentially a paid work experience position for eligible candidates, prescreen required for determination. Willing to train.

Someone available from May 14 through September (possibly October) to help with farmers' market.
Interviewing Market Vendors for Facebook
Scheduling Facebook & Instagram posts throughout season
Helping to promote market via radio interviews, press release, and flyers
Using templates to create on-brand promotional materials
Setting up parking lot barriers at Noon on Wednesdays (must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. alone or with help (may recruit a volunteer to assist))
Directing vendors to spaces at market from 2:30 p.m. To 4 p.m.
Manning an informational table at the market every (or at least most) Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. To 6 p.m.
Hours -
Non-negotiable: Wednesday 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. (4 hours)
Preferred: Wed. 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. With remaining hours divided between Monday, Tuesday and, possibly, Thursday.
Other:
"Market Bucks" paid as an extra bonus and can be used throughout the season and redeemable at any vendor table.
Familiarity with Google Suite, especially Gmail, is a plus.

to decorate our windows for our programs/volunteer opportunities/fundraisers or anything for the Holidays!

We have ideas up our sleeves or you can come up with an appropriate theme for the County to see through our Windows.

Volunteers to come into office or anywhere the Volunteer feels comfortable to Read a Children's book out loud for United Way of the EUP Staff to Record for our YouTube Channel.

Stories are for Children during Holidays, School Breaks, even Summer Breaks or just want to listen to a book read out loud for them or even in the Classrooms to have the Children listen too by their Community Members. 

Will take maybe 30mins to read the Story and we will have a sheet for you to sign for you consent to post Social Media and YouTube Channel.

This will be available everyday in March for Reading Month and after March it will be scheduled 2 days a month for Volunteers who want to continue coming in to read aloud. Check Scheduling

Reading Buddies pair volunteers with Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms to make a difference in the lives of children by reading age-appropriate books to students who might not have books read to them regularly. Stories chosen are fun, and often contain moral or underlying social and emotional skills to help young children build a solid foundation as they being their school career.

Volunteers spend about 20-minutes in the classroom reading to children 0-5. Once a month, activities are incorporated to assist with social and emotional skill building.

To keep our young students safe and engaged, our Program will continue to offer a Virtual option, if applies.

With the COVID-19 Pandemic keeping people isolated, it's more important than ever to make sure our volunteers stay connected with our students. This year, to limit contact, and align with back to school plans, we will be recording volunteers. You can either record a video reading a story or demonstrating a skill.

Mailings - stuffing envelopes, folding fliers, labeling envelopes, etc.

Cleaning - dusting, inside windows, table and counter tops, storage organization

Recycling - hauling of recycling to the Recycle Facility (this requires volunteer to have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation)

Flier Distribution - hanging event fliers at local businesses and organizations (a list of participating businesses will be provided)

Elder abuse is a complex problem that is gaining awareness. It occurs in any setting and in relationships where there is an expectation of trust, or when a vulnerable person is targeted because of age or disability. Every community has different circumstances, strengths, challenges, and priorities when it comes to addressing elder abuse.

United Way is expanding its programming to help our senior residents stay in their own homes longer, reduce isolation, and catch early warning signs of potential elder exploitation and abuse by developing a peer mentoring program. This program will begin in July 2021 and we are currently recruiting Volunteers!

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping to guide conversations with their peers, work one-on-one or in small groups with seniors who may be experiencing financial difficulties due to exploitation, or help to facilitate coffee chats in your local area.

To keep our Volunteers safe and engaged, and will offer virtual and hybrid opportunities in addition to our normal face-to-face options. Rest assured, this will be discussed prior to service with interested volunteers. Additional details will be shared during orientation.

Adventuring out on the trails, maintaining and caring for the local trails throughout the EUP watching for types of updates or repairs such as downed trees or a rough walking path, picking up trash along the trail, map trails out, observing for invasive species of plants and also, documenting which trails are beginner to expert level, we also encouraged to join other outdoor groups/meetings!

We also have printed logs for anyone interested in this program as well as a few other surprises, Please TAKE PICTURES AND DOCUMENT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE 

Our communities have many senior citizens and disabled persons who are not able to keep up on yard work by themselves.

Volunteers are needed to help out with many seasonal projects including lawn mowing, edging, flower bed weeding in the warmer months.

Volunteers should have reliable transportation. Having your own yard tools is a plus but may not always be needed.
